Krazy Horse Late Night – Bury St. Edmunds – 1st August 2024

So I finally made it out to one of the Krazy Horse Late Night events in Bury St. Edmunds.

It was great ride out there – glorious weather, some of my favourite roads, and not too much traffic. I left Norwich around 5:30 and headed out on the B1108 Watton Road through the villages and towns of Hingham, Watton, Bodney, Mundford, and Brandon, past Center Parcs in the forests at Elveden. It pays to back off there as there’s a real chance that a deer might step out in front of you! They seem to like to wander onto the roads most around dusk, so I was well ahead of the deer traffic too.

From Elveden its just a few minutes down through North Stow, Wordwell and Fornham All Saints and on to the Lamdin Road, so there’s no need to go in to Bury at all.

I arrived at the Krazy Horse Emporium a bit before seven, to find hundreds of bike lined up along the main road, in car parks, and on the networks of side streets. I’ve spent far to many hours looking at bikes so I followed my ears to the band – who were actually rather good – and caught up with JJ and Paul there. We chatted about the club and stuff then I meandered off inside the store for a cuppa and a look around.

Downstairs, the bike showroom is stuffed with Indians, Nortons, MVs, CCMs – all very interesting, but as prices seem to start around £16k to I didn’t torment myself for too long.

I retired upstairs for a cuppa and a look around the accessories and clothing, the headed out to look at a few bikes before heading home.

I watched Henry Cole hooning around mid-ales in an episode of The Motorbike Show on one of these, and they certainly have a lot of appeal for a short dash. But then it takes all sorts…

I headed back via the excellent A143 to Scole and the A140 to Norwich, arriving home just as the sun finally set on a great evening’s ride-out of about ninety miles.

The next KH meet is on 5th September if you fancy giving it a look.
